I began my career in the lumber industry working for Richmond International Forest Products in 1983. My concentration was in the purchasing and sales of southern yellow pine to the treated industry for 23 years. During the last 10 years I have partnered with Wayne Pase who is a 30+ year lumber trader to form Grassy Creek Lumber where we have transitioned from wholesale trading to mill sales for several mills in the south. These mills include Randy Miller Lumber with 15,000,000' syp timbers and decking in Wilkesboro, NC, S&L Lumber in Denver, NC, Church and Church Lumber in Wilkesboro, NC, and Suwannee Lumber in Cross City, FL. My specialty for the past 30+ years has been in decking and timber sales to the treated industry.
Outside of Grassy Creek Lumber, I love doing things with my family. I have been married to my wife, Leslie, for 30+ years and have 2 daughters. My oldest, Chelsie is married to Robert Ingersoll and is a graduated from Christopher Newport University and is working with Campus Crusade for Christ College Ministry at George Mason University and is expecting our first grandchild. My youngest daughter, Jena is graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in cultural anthropology and environmental science and policy. I enjoy spending time with my family at Lake Gaston, restoring and showing old cars and serving in my church in various capacities. We also enjoy serving and supporting our friends in ministry in Nicaragua.
|I have been in the lumber business for 39 years. My partner Richard Gray and I have been working together for 30 years. In July of 2007 we decided to start our own Lumber co. and formed Grassy Creek Lumber. Our trading styles, work ethics, and solid morals have bonded us together to make a perfect team. To make the team complete we were fortunate enough to have Ginny Michael join us when we started the company. Ginny manages our office in every way from making sure that bills get paid to managing our trucking department. When not in the office I enjoy hunting with my bow and arrow, and relic hunting with my metal detector . I am actively involved with my church in many areas. I enjoy my mission trips to Nicaragua to help with a church and small village in a remote area outside of Managua. My wife and I have been in love with each other since we were 7 years old. We have been happily married for 40+ years and have two children and two precious grandchildren.|
I started With Grassy Creek in 2013. I am an active and innovative member to the sales team. I thoroughly enjoy working with Richard, Wayne and Ginny. Previously, I was a professional Firefighter and Paramedic. I was presented with an opportunity to come to work here at Grassy Creek Lumber and I could not turn it down. I have known Richard all of my life, and he is a great family friend.
When I am not working, I am generally spending time with my wife Rachael and our dog Meatloaf. We have recently been renovating our house. We are active members at our church. When I am away from the house, I am a volunteer Firefighter and Paramedic for my local fire department. Also, I am an avid outdoorsman. You can often find me out on the water fishing or in the woods hunting.
|I began in the lumber business in 1996 at Richmond International where I met Richard and Wayne. As luck would have it, in 2007 when they decided to form Grassy Creek Lumber they invited me to join them.
I get to wear a lot of hats around the office. My duties include invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, trucking and anything else that comes up. My job is made a lot easier thanks to our great mills, customers, and truck drivers. My husband Jerry and I met and married while serving in the Navy. We have 3 children Samantha, Felicia and Travis. We love spending our family vacations on the beach in Nags Head NC, and while in town, you can usually find us cheering for our local Double A Team, the Richmond Flying Squirrels.
|Like Ginny, Richard and Wayne, I began my career in the lumber business at RIFP. After 22 years of service, I decided to retire, which was short lived. I was invited to join team Grassy Creek as an administrative assistant.
My husband Tommy and I have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. We love spending time visiting with them as they are spread out in the west, northeast and southeast. Just enjoying life in the lumber business.
